Arshavin also has 37 caps for Russia. It was understood that Spurs were only willing to pay 16 million pounds  for Arshavin, however Zenit were demanding at least 20 million. Euro 2008 starts

On June 7th Euro 2008 kicked off in Switzerland with the Swiss side clashing the central European side Czech Republic. Czech Republic substitute Vaclav Sverkos "crashed the party" for co-hosts Switzerland by scoring the only goal of the game to give the Czech's the 1-0 advantage when the final whistle blew. Sverkos struck after 71 minutes to defeat the home side already deflated by a knee injury to forward and captain Alexander Frei. The closest the Swiss came to having a goal was when they struck the under side of the crossbar. Karel Bruckner the Czech's coach said " they did a good job." Both teams had 3 subs and one of the subs for the czechs was Vaclav Sverkos. The other game of the day, Portugal vs Turkey turned out 2-0 in Portugal's favor.

Toffees Tie Birmingham 1-1

By Alex Clark
Everton F.C. tied Birmingham F.C. 1-1 on Saturday, April 12th. Jolean Lescott's header in the 78th minute looked to have kept the Toffees' Champions League dreams alive when he guided the ball past the Blues goalkeeper Mike Taylor. But the Blues spoiled Everton's 3 points when Mauro Zarate hit a stunning free-kick in the 82nd minute. Birmingham had 3 substitutions all due to injury and Everton and 2 subs, 1 due to injury. A spoiled 3 points put Everton 2 points behind Liverpool but Liverpool has a game in hand.  The Reds next game is against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow. A spoiled 3 points for Evrton but over all a fair result for both sides.

Gunners Title Dreams Over?

Are Arsenal's title dreams over? After tying Liverpool 1-1 the Gunners are 5 points behind EPL leading club Manchester United and tied on points with Chelsea. The Reds opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Peter Crouch took a low shot outside the 18 yard box guiding it past Manuel Almunia. But, the Gunners struck back when Nicklas Bendtner headed a ball past Pepe Reina when Cesc Fabregas sent a perfect ball in right to Bendtner head. Both the Reds and Gunners had many more chances including when Andrly Voronin had a wide open shot but curled over the bar with the outside of his right foot. At full time Liverpool were happy with a point to steer 6 points ahead of Everton for 4th place and a spot to qualify for The Champions League. Steven Gerrard came on in the second half because of Rafa Benitez trying to rest most of his first team squad for their next meeting against Arsenal in the the second leg of there Champions League quarterfinal battle. Emmanuel Adebayor also came in for Armand Traore in the second half to try and get the Gunners 3 points instead of 1. All around a good game for the Reds but a real crusher for Arsenal.

Mainland Maniacs 0-2 so far in South Jersey League

The U-10 Mainland United Maniacs based out of Linwood, New Jersey have gone 0-2 this season in tier 2 of the South Jersey Soccer League. They are -7 in goal difference but have not been giving up at all. A 4-2 and then 6-1 loss have put the Maniacs in not the best position but there are still 6 games left so plenty of time to catch up. Top scorers all with one goal each are Alex Clark (myself), Ryan Hodgson, and Trevor Holak. Hopefully we can get right back in this league.

Go Toffees and Maniacs!!!!

Everton's Cahill out for the rest of season

Everton F.C.'s Tim Cahill broke his foot vs West Ham last month during their 1-1 draw at Goodison Park. Cahill has released exclusively to Everton T.V. he intends to be back at the football club by pre-season training for the season of 2008-2009. Cahill is already in rehabilitation and should hopefully (for me) be back for next season.
